On-Scene Xplorer installed in Pennsville Township, NJ
Deepwater Fire Department and Pennsville Fire & Rescue Co #1, both within Pennsville Township in Salem County, New Jersey installed On-Scene Xplorer systems in their fire apparatus. The installed systems included Toughbook computers from Panasonic, external GPS receivers, mounting hardware and power supply wiring in the cabs of engine, ladder truck, and command vehicles.
On-Scene Xplorer will enhance the operations of the departments by giving the crews the ability to easily find dispatched locations with updated spatial data over the traditional and outdated papers maps that were used in the cabs. Iron Compass will enhance the system by providing quarterly mapping database updates and by extracting fire hydrant locations from engineering CAD drawings to be included in the On-Scene Xplorer system.
The two departments provide emergency response for a first due area over 24 square miles with a population of approximately 15,000.
